Ansonia Westminster Chime Sonia Series No. 2 Tambour Mantle Clock c. 1920's

Westminster Chime Sonia Series No. 2 Tambour Mantle Clock c. (height x width x depth). 10-3/8 x 21-½ x 7-3/8. Solid Mahogany case (not veneer) is in pretty good shape.

This clock is quite a bit larger (especially in depth) than most other Tambour clocks. Probably to house the large, Westminster Chime movement. Case is in original finish and will need a cleaning. There is an area of repair on the right side of case (see photo). Factory installed leveling feet are present. No label present, but there is a metal tag on the inside of back door depicting the model # and makers name. The tag also references the spirit level which is located in the dial. Ansonia B21 8-Day Time, Strike and Westminster Chime movement is running, but has not been regulated. Chimes and strike work properly, but movement will need servicing. Movement stamped B21 and THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. The typical Ansonia A in the diamond/square logo is also stamped in the back plate along with the words PATS. 6 Slivered dial with black Arabic numerals is in good shape, but does need some cleaning.

Marked on the dial are ANSONIA & MADE BY THE ANSONIA CLOCK CO. One of the neatest features of the dial is the spirit level located in and through the dial above the cannon arbor. The regulator is above the numeral 12 and there is a Chime/Silent arbor near the numeral 1. The wonderful and sleek cast bezel is in great shape and good quality. Convex and beveled glass is present, intact and fit securely in the bezel.

Rare to find both convex and beveled! Believed to be the original. It works with winding, regulating and the chime selector. Believed to be the original, however it appears to have a non-original set screw. Original & delicate Ansonia tambour hands.

This is a larger than normal & nicer than normal clock for a Tambour style. Leveling feet, spirit level, Convex & beveled glass, solid mahogany (not veneered) and the Westminster chime all set this clock a notch above the rest!
