Beautiful New Haven Mantel clock for you here. The maker is New Haven of New Haven, CT in the USA. This clock is unique in that we could not find another one like it with this case on the two clock sites we research our acquisitions on.
The beautiful mahogany wood case is all there. This is a tambour style case. They blended in different stains to give the case a very unique look. Nice wood scrolling on the front of the case. The wood legs are also in place and appear to be original. The case shows some minor finish loss, still looks good. Beveled glass in the front wood door, no cracks or blistering. The wood rear door with a sound opening is securely attached to the case. We have only wiped down the wood case with Murphy's wood cleaner and orange oil, could still used a good cleaning to bring the original beauty of this piece out to its' full potential. Nice looking face on this clock. Silver colored with black numbering, some finish loss. The grommets are still in place. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock.
Gold trim around the clock face. The brass bezel is securely attached to the case. Great looking 8 day brass movement on this clock. The clock has a great beat to it with the pendulum off and on it.
The clock movement has been running, striking, and chiming since we acquired the clock. Just cleaned the pivot points and bushings and oiled them. Five strike rods and hammers are in good shape.
The three springs feel sound when keyed. This clock is in running, striking, and chiming condition. The clock will come with a wind key. The movement has no New Haven logo the back of the movement which was typical with this maker.
The brass movement looks original to the case. Also has Germany impressed under that. The pendulum that came with the clock also looks appropriate to it. The clock was made in 1925.The beveled concave glass and brass bezel door over the clock face look great. The glass is not blistered or cracked. The bezel is firmly attached to the clock case by its' hinges. The bezel is made out of some sort of gold colored metal appears to be brass. This was definitely a quality clock for its' time. The rear door is still firmly attached to the case. Shows some finish loss to the rear door around the know. The fabric is on the inside of the rear door sound opening, and looks intact. The hinges look appropriate on the front and rear doors. The clock stands 9.25" tall, by 20.25" across, by 6-7/8 wide. The clock face is 5 across.
The clock appears to have the appropriate pendulum with the clock. You do not find such a fine example of this clock maker's work available very often, so do not miss this one.
