Antique Phillip Haas & Son Bracket Clock Unique and Rare Westminster Chimes Runs Strikes & Chimes Oak Case Germany. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself! What makes this clock really unique is that Haas made very few Westminster Chimes Unit clocks. Most were only time and strike units. The maker of this clock was Phillip Haas & Son of Germany.

Both the movement and the gong unit have the expected PHS and rabbit logo on them. 157 is also impressed on the back plate of the clock movement. The clock dates to early 1900 to 1910s period. Very unique clock here as has an oak case and then the brass and beveled glass front door. Have not found another Haas chiming bracket clock with an oak case online at the clock sites we search one.

There is a paper sticker on the bottom of the case that says No. 1812" and "Strike on it. The wood case is all there. Shows some finish loss, still looks good. Nice styling and design to the oak wood case.

The glass in the brass bezel is intact, no cracks or blistering. The wood case has these great brass legs on the front.

The rear door is securely attached to the case. Nice brass topper with a brass carrying handle on the top of the case.

We have only wiped down the wood case with Murphy's wood cleaner and orange oil, could still used a good cleaning to bring the original beauty of this piece out to its' full potential. Nice looking face on this clock. Silver colored with black numbering, some finish loss. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The hands to turn the strike on and off work as does the time adjustment component.

Great looking 8 day brass movement on this clock. The clock has a great beat to it with the pendulum off and on it. The pendulum bob is with the clock and a wind key will come with the clock.

The movement has a chimes on/off switch that operates. The clock movement has been running, striking, and chiming since we acquired the clock. Just cleaned the pivot points and bushings and oiled them.

The five strike rods and hammers are operational. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed.

This clock is in running, striking and chiming condition. Nice looking silver colored metal face with impressed black numbering. The beveled glass and wood bezel door over the clock face look great. The glass is not blistered or cracked. The bezel is firmly attached to the clock case by its' hinges. This was definitely a quality clock for its' time. The door hinges look appropriate on the front and rear doors.

The clock stands 14-7/8" tall (16-1/8" with the top finial up), by 10.25" across, by 7.25" wide. The clock face is 5-1/8 across.

You will not find such a fine example of this clock maker's work available very often, so do not miss this one. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well.

With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear.

One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks.
