The front door of the clock has foliate carving at the top, supported by twin turned Romanesque columns each side. The upper section shows a circular dial with a deep domed glass. The lower section features 6 panels of bevelled glass - Astragal glazing, through which the large Brass pendulum is visible as it swings side to side.The base is stepped backwards, with twin level adjustment screws. The clock dial is in a Matt satin silver with Roman numerals. Surrounded by a wide brass bezel. The mechanism is a 3 train movement, striking the hour on a single chime rod and the quarters by way of graduating Westminster Chimes on 4 chime rods. Gustav Becker is considered one if the best 19th century German Clockmakers. Westminster Chimes are a full bodied tone, and the hour strike has a mid range tone.
