UNUSUAL & FINE GEORGIAN STYLE Westminster Chime BRACKET / MANTEL CLOCK
This exceptional mahogany mantel / bracket clock was presented for 40 years service with a leading British Steel company around 1962 and it's quality befits that length of service. It has remained in the same family since it's presentation and has clearly been cherished for well over 50 years. The clock was made by Tucker, Nunn and Grimshaws, renowned for their range of superior clocks retailed under the Smiths banner and all their clocks utilised the best quality movements manufactured by Smiths at the time, this being no exception. These exceptional clocks are scarce but can be found on the Smiths website. As an unexpected discovery this example can be offered for considerably less but the quality remains the same. The clock is in the Georgian style with a basket top case and brass carrying handle. Measures 13"x 9"x 8 which are generous and attractive proportions, giving the exceptional style typical of this range from the company. The 8 day Westminster chiming movement works perfectly, chiming as it should sequentially every quarter and keeping excellent time. This is testament to the clock having been regularly serviced throughout it's life and the movement with it's fine engine turned brass finish is spotless. The chimes can of course be silenced as required. The dial has a silvered chapter ring displaying both Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic for the minutes. The four corners have ornate brass spandrels. The complete clock is totally original and has no repairs or restoration. Quite simply a well loved clock which can be safely delivered worldwide at cost. Please take the time to research these Tucker Nunn and Grimshaw clocks to appreciate their quality and realise just what a bargain this is!
