The clock also has the numbers "5982" and "25" on the front of the clock under where the hood sits on the case. This clock case is made of mahogany and is in very good shape. Nice scalloped design along the skirt.Very little surface marking even around the bottom skirt where some ambitious person with a vacuum typically leaves their marks. The top wood finial that should be in the center of the hood is not in place. A ding to the skirt on the bottom middle, still has good finish coverage there.
The clock strikes the hours on the hour and then does either the Westminster Chimes routine every 15 minutes including on the hour. The strike has a nice strong hour strike and chime's sound. This clock could be called a grandmother or tall case clock, as it is less than 73 tall. With the missing finial, it would be over 73 tall. The stained mahogany case on this clock looks very good. The case has a great design on the front of the case at the corner angles. The scrolling on the top of the clock and even the brass lacquered hinges are in place and all look proper to the clock. Beautiful hood on this clock. The door is attached to hood by the hinges. Again, all the wood and trim is still with the clock. The glass in the doors over the face, the pendulum area and the sides is all intact. The door hinges on both doors are sound and securely attached to the case. The lock latch for the pendulum door is there and operates. This movement appears to have been with this clock case since made. The clock has a good beat to the movement with the pendulum and weights in place. This is an Urgos movement that has been cleaned and serviced by our Clock Doc.
Movement was made in Germany. The chimes unit has 4 strike hammers for the chimes and four strike hammers for the hours. This clock is weight driven with chains. Perfect brass look lacquer finish on the outer shells of the weights as brand new. No finish loss to the weight shells. No dings or dents to the shells. The chains the weights appear to be in good condition. The strike hammers and rods all look to be in good shape. Nice wood pendulum rod with gold colored bob on it. Great looking movement and clock face on this clock. This is an Urgos 8 day movement. The clock had no weights with it when we bought it, so put some new Hermle weights in place. The face shows no tarnishing or finish loss. The clock has a silver colored metal clock face on it with gold numerals. There then is nice looking detailing surrounding the face.
The large clock face is 7-5/8 across. No lunar dial on this clock. The elegant clock hands are black, match, and are appropriate to the clock. We will also offer to deliver the clock to within 200 miles of Wilmington, DE one way. The clock stands 72-5/8" tall, by 17-5/8" across at bottom of case, by 10.5 wide.
