This Clock will enhance and compliment any room it graces, and will be a Lovely Keepsake that will be handed down from generation to generation. Your Children's Children will speak of you with kind thoughts as they look at this TRUE TREASURE, as it sits in their future home. Clocks of this period were always meant to be handed down within the family and were considered both beautiful pieces of furniture which complimented a parlor or den, and necessary Keepers of Time, in a world that did not have easy access to accurate time keeping. The Junghan's Clock Company was at the Top of the Clock Making Industry because they produced high quality, reliable, and beautiful Clocks of all types. That is why the Junghan's Clock Company still exists today, when other clock makers of the same period have gone by the way of the Dodo Bird. 2016 marks the 150th anniversary of Junghans, which began producing exceptional clocks in 1866 in the Black Forest Region of Germany. Now you can own a part of clock history by owning this amazingly RARE and SOUGHT AFTER, 1905 MASTERPIECE.
Take a look at why this Beautiful, 111 year old, Junghan's Clock is so rare and so DESIRED: The RARITY of this Clock goes beyond explanation. This Junghan's clock plays the FULL WESTMINSTER CHIME TUNE after EVERY QUARTER HOUR , followed by a progressive bim-bam tone. So, instead of just playing one or the other every quarter hour, it plays both of them. Usually, a clock that features a Westminster Chime, plays 1/4 of the tune at the quarter hour, 1/2 of the tune at the bottom of the hour, 3/4 of the tune at 45 minutes past the hour and the full tune at the top of the hour. This BEAUTIFUL RARE, JUNGHAN'S Clock, has an EQUALLY RARE "STACKED MOVEMENT" WITH THE ARBOR FOR THE WESTMINSTER CHIME AND THE BIM-BAM TONE FOUND AT THE UPPER TOP LEFT OF THE DIAL (SEEN CLEARLY IN PICTURE #12).
This Junghan's Clock plays the full WESTMINSTER CHIME AFTER EVERY QUARTER HOUR, FOLLOWED BY THE PROGRESSIVE BIM-BAM TONE. AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR, THE FULL WESTMINSTER CHIME IS ALSO PLAYED AS WELL AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR, FOLLOWED BY THE CORRECT HOUR COUNT. After each quarter hour and after the Westminster chime is played, a progressive bim-bam plays. One bim-bam at the 1/4 hour, 2 bim-bams at the half hour, 3 bim-bams at 3/4 past the hour. The bim-bam plays after the full Westminster Chime has played. This beautiful clock also has a beautiful floral inlay (somewhat faded), found on the top and bottom curved wood finials (Pictures #3 & #4). The INLAY is VERY beautiful and adds to the unique, awesome artistic quality of this clock. It is more like a piece of beautiful furniture that will enhance the beauty of any room in which it is placed. The added benefit is that it keeps very accurate time and sounds beautiful when the Warm Westminster chimes play and reverberate softly.
THIS JUNGHAN'S CLOCK IS TRULY AMAZING AND VERY, VERY RARE. ESPECIALLY IN THIS WONDERFUL, MINT CONDITION!!!
I have collected Junghan's Clocks for years, and have never come across this type of chiming/ringing arrangement for a Westminster Chime and "bim-bam" combination every quarter hour; with the full Westminster tune being played each quarter hour with the progressive "bim-bam" tone following the Westminster Chime. This Junghan's Clock was made NINE years before the beginning of WW I. The front Door secures tightly and the beveled glass is secure, clean and free of scratches. The back door closes securely with a locking latch mechanism that is functional.
The Rich Walnut and Mahogany Case is in wonderful shape and IS FREE OF RETICULATION which is AMAZING AND RARE for a clock that is 111 years old. The chapter ring shows clear Arabic numerals and is CLEAN except for one dark mark just to the left of numeral #9, but it does not detract from the appearance of the clock and is partially hid by the front door, when closed. The dial face has a highly ornate gold scroll work detail, clearly seen in picture #12. The door has GREAT detail with Ribbed Partial Columns which is very unique and adds to the beauty and artistic design of this clock. Just imagine, all of the work on this amazing clock was accomplished by hand and cam e from a.
Time gone by and an era not forgotten, when craftsmanship truly mattered. This clock keeps VERY ACCURATE TIME AND IS A STRONG RUNNER. The tones of the Westminster Chime are deep and rich and continue to resonate far after the hammers have struck the chiming rods.
The tones have a warm sound which reverberate within the solid Walnut and Mahogany Cabinet. The Highly sought after Junghan's "J" inside a star Logo is clearly seen on the back of the brass plate of this Antique German clock , along with date of "B05" which means it was made in the second half of 1905. The back door locks securely into place with a functional sliding latch mechanism. The movement has been ultrasonically cleaned and oiled for your satisfaction and continued enjoyment over the coming years. This sturdy clock is a fine example of German Craftsmanship and will last for many years to come--becoming a treasured family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation. The clock has the original beveled glass which is highly sought after and is found only in the most expensive and sought after German clocks of that era. This amazing antique clock was made 9 years before the start of WW I, in 1905, when President Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt was in office. Just think, this amazing clock survived WWI, WWII, a voyage across the Atlantic by Steamship (I imagine) :- to make it to the USA.The Original Pendulum and replacement Key are included with this beautiful clock. When you receive your wonderful antique clock, make sure to remove ALL PACKING MATERIAL very carefully from around and inside the clock, when applicable, and make sure the clock is placed on a LEVEL SURFACE and allowed to remain in that place to let it acclimate to your environment.NORTHEAST KANSAS is VERY RAINY & WET in the Spring, VERY HOT & HUMID in the Summer, RAINY & COOL in the Fall, & VERY COLD & With VERY DRY AIR in the Winter. All of these weather conditions affect any clock made of wood and soft brass.
So, when it arrives to you, unless you live in Kansas, the weather will probably be somewhat different. Consequently, when it arrives to your home, let your clock acclimate and get used to your environment for 24-48 hours. Your clock will probably need "minor adjustments" for the first week or so, as it gets used to your home.
