Antique Junghans Clock Tambour Case. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! This clock still has the paper label on the inside of the back door which identifies this Junghans clock as the Franklin model. Tacks that held label in place are gone and someone has taped the label in place.
Great concave glass in the bezel over the face of the clock. The clock has "W103" and "2810" noted on the back of the brass movement and "Wurtenberg" at the bottom of it. Raised gold colored numbers on the silver tin clock face. The clock face shows some wear to the finish.
Has "Junghans" and "Germany" noted at the bottom of the clock face. The wood case is all there. The rear door is still securely attached to the case by the hinges. The numbers "12181" and 17U of V(77) are stenciled on the bottom of the case. Contrary to the pictures, the glass is no longer in the bezel, got cracked during storage and was removed. The brass bezel is securely attached to the clock case. This clock does run, strike and chime consistently at this juncture, just oiled the bushings on the back of the movement. The movement was just serviced and cleaned, all springs are sound when keyed. Check out the great strike and chime movement in this clock! The clock is in running, striking and chiming condition.
The clock has a 4 rod Westminster Chimes unit. The chimes and strike units were recently oiled and cleaned on the back plate. The wood case is in great shape. A few finish loss areas, but all there.
The clock stands 11-7/16" tall, by 22" across, by 7.25 wide. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. Will come with a winding key and the appropriate pendulum bob. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Make sure that this item meets your needs and requirements before deciding to acquire it.
So again, ask all questions you have, come see. In person or send a friend to see the lithograph on your behalf, prior to deciding to acquire it. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, I would suggest you steer clear. One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art.
