The Antique 1920's New Haven Clock Co Wood Mantle Clock is a beautiful and historical piece that stands as a decorative collectible in any room. Made in New Haven, Connecticut, this mechanical movement clock features a tambour shape (aka Napoleon's hat) with a mahogany frame and brass, glass, and metal materials. With a vintage key included, this clock is a unique representation of early 20th-century style and craftsmanship. There are 5 keyholes in the face of the clock: Of the three larger keyholes, 2 are for winding and 1 is for the chimes.
Of the two smaller keyholes: one is to silence the alarm and the other is to adjust the timekeeping (faster or slower). Note: the clock key that comes with the clock has both a larger key hole and a smaller key hole. The chime sequence of Westminster adds to its charm, making it a valuable addition to any collection of antique clocks. In nice preowned antique condition... The wood case has no cracks with smooth finish...
With overall minor surface wear/soil and a couple of scuffs to the back surface. The clock keeps time but the chimes only partially work... Only 2 of the six hammers strike the chimes.I suspect the moving parts would benefit from a cleaning and service. Harkness New Haven Clock Company large mantle clock (partial paper sticker on bottom). The base is 21" long and it sits 10" high.
The last patent date on the clock is Dec 25, 1923 a Christmas clock? I used the key to wind the the larger key slots... The glass door is intact and opens and closes.
