Antique CAC Bracket Clock Brass Movement Westminster Chimes Runs Nice Wood Case Germany Early 1900s. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep it for yourself! Beautiful German mahogany case clock here. The maker is CAC of Germany. The clock's back plate of the movement has CAC Co and a triangle impressed on the bottom middle.
This clock dates to the early 1900s. Unique movement in that it has 4 strike hammers and rods on the one side of the movement. Then another strike hammer and rod for the hour strike on the right side of the movement.
The wood case is all there. Shows some minor finish loss most notably along the corner edges, still looks good. Nice columns on front corners. Great curved top on the clock case. Beveled glass in the front wood door, no cracks or blistering. The four wood legs are in place and look original to the clock. Nice detailing to the mahogany case on the front, sides and especially the top of it.
Has a dard brownish black stain to it. The rear door is securely attached to the case. Has the gold colored metal grille in it to all the strike/chimes unit sound out. We have only wiped down the wood case with Murphy's wood cleaner and orange oil, could still used a good cleaning to bring the original beauty of this piece out to its' full potential. Nice looking face on this clock. Silver colored ring with black numbering, some minor finish loss. Then an back piece that is gold and has a beautiful incised design on it. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The hands to turn the chime on and off works as does the time adjustment component. Both of the adjustment hands are in place. Great looking 8 day brass movement on this clock. The clock movement has a great beat to it with the pendulum off and on it.
Nice brass pendulum bob that has some weight to it. Has CAC Co incised around a triangle on the middle bottom of the back plate. Also has "21" above the triangle. The clock movement has been running, striking, and chiming since we acquired the clock. Just cleaned the pivot points and bushings and oiled them. Five strike rods and hammers are in good shape. The three wind springs feel sound when keyed. This clock is in running, striking and chiming condition. The clock will come with a wind key. This was definitely a quality clock for its' time.
The rear door is still firmly attached to the case. The latch for the rear door is still there and operates. The hinges look appropriate on the front and rear doors.
The clock stands 16-7/16" tall, by 11-3/8" across, by 8-3/8 wide. The clock face is 6 across. You will not find such a fine example of this clock maker's work available very often, so do not miss this one.
