Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Very nice looking Junghans clock case here. The clock probably dates to the 1910 to 1915 period. Check out the beautiful rounded top on the clock case. The case is all intact, no missing pieces.
Some minor finish loss to the case. The rear wood door is intact and securely attached to the case by the hinges. The wood wafer legs are still in place. Some wear and tear and loss of finish to the case, most notably along the edges and corners. The wood case has been wiped down, could still use a good cleaning.
Nice paper tag still on place on the bottom of the case identifying this clock as the "Sherman" model. Interesting stamped on label for some other purpose on the bottom of the clock case as well. Some nice inlay or marquetry design on the front of the case. Nice mahogany veneer case on this clock.
Some crazing to the finish in places. The clock face is silver with gold numbers. Then the rest of the plate the face is on is silver colored.
Some loss of finish to the face around the wind holes and edges. 2 of the 3 grommets are in place around the wind holes. The bezel front wood door is securely attached to the case by the hinges. Same with the back door.
The glass in the bezel is intact, no cracking or blistering. The brass movement looks good. This is the 160 movement.
"160" is incised in the bottom middle of the back plate of the movement. All three of the clock springs feel sound when wound.
The clock will run for a little bit and then stops. The movement probably needs a good cleaning or some bushings replaced. The clock has the pendulum bob, and will come with a wind key.The 5 rod gong unit is in place and securely attached to the case. The clock has a Westminster Chime's unit. The clock chimes every 15 minutes, and then will chime and strikes on the hour.
This is a five rod chime/strike unit. The Junghans Mantel Clock stands 12.75" tall, by 22.25" across, by 7 wide. The clock face is 5 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. If you have not had experience with old mechanical clocks before, We would suggest you steer clear.
One really needs to have the patience, and skill to work with these great works of art. They are not our modern plug in and go, or change the battery clocks. There is no representation that the clock is in original condition, or will continue to be in working order.
