Antique Junghans Bracket Clock Westminster Chimes Runs Strikes and Chimes Wood Inlay and Columns on Door Wurttemberg Germany 1908. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! Beautiful German oak case clock. The maker is Jungans and the movement has "B 08" on it, so the clock was made in second half of 1908. The wood case is all there.
Shows some minor finish loss most notably along the corner edges, still looks good. Nice fluted columns on front corners and inlaid wood detailing on the top of the door above the clock face. Beveled glass in the front wood door, no cracks or blistering. Nice detailing to the mahogany case on the front, sides and especially the top of it. Has a reddish brown stain to it.
The rear door is securely attached to the case. The latch on the rear door needs some attention. We have only wiped down the wood case with Murphy's wood cleaner and orange oil, could still used a good cleaning to bring the original beauty of this piece out to its' full potential. Nice looking face on this clock. Silver colored with black numbering, some minor finish loss. The clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. Gold trim around the clock face. The hands to turn the strike on and off work as does the time adjustment component. One of these hands is missing the pin. Great looking 8 day brass movement on this clock. The clock has a great beat to it with the pendulum off and on it. The clock movement has been running, striking, and chiming since we acquired the clock. Just cleaned the pivot points and bushings and oiled them. Five strike rods and hammers are in good shape. The three springs feel sound when keyed. This clock is in running, striking and chiming condition. The chimes/strike barrel needs adjustment as the clock starts striking on the hour before the chimes playing for the top of the hour is completed. The movement has the "Junghans" logo on the back of the movement and "B08" below that. Also has Germany impressed under that. The pendulum that came with the clock also looks appropriate to it. The clock was made in 1908. The clock will come with a wind key. This was definitely a quality clock for its' time. The rear door is still firmly attached to the case. The latch for the rear door is still there and operates. The hinges look appropriate on the front and rear doors. The clock stands 16" tall, by 13" across, by 8.75 wide. The clock face is 5 across. You will not find such a fine example of this clock maker's work available very often, so do not miss this one.
