The chimes grow more full on each quarter hour - the longest on the full hour. The hour strike needs adjustment - it strikes but the hammer pad is worn or misaligned - needs some attention and should be serviced by a professional. The clock keeps good time and ticks quietly. Winds easily for each the time , hour strike , and chimes.
The clock has a presentation brass plaque on the bottom front - shown up close in one of my pics. It was presented on Dec 19th, 1924 to Miss Agnes R. Wiseman by the staff of St. Rollox School on the occasion of her retiral and marriage. Evidently you could not teach if you were married and at around 60 years of age -she retired and married. The case is inlaid , has a mahogany veneer. Stands approx 13-3/4" tall, approx 11" wide at the base and approx 7-5/8 deep.
It stands on 4 small bracket feet and weighs roughly 14 lbs as you see it. The clock runs smoothly and quietly , winds easily and smoothly. It is Estate Fresh and there is no way of knowing the last time that it was serviced, so without question you should take it to a clock professional and have it gone over. I know that the strike needs adjustment and just for good maintenance the movement should be cleaned and oiled.
The case is in good to very good condition. Does have a few minor veneer imperfections and spots of wear or what ever to the finish. I notice one flaw / a small crack - shown in the last pic -this is quit subtle but noted. The finish appears to be original. The back door does not close fully as it should , not sure but believe that the gong is positioned incorrectly and it protrudes out so the door can not close.
Please view all the pics to help assess the cosmetic condition. ONLY THROW OUT THE BOX AND PACKAGING AFTER YOU HAVE INSPECTED THE ITEM AND ARE HAPPY THAT IT IS UNDAMAGED.
I insure through a 3rd party insurer and have to follow their procedures - your help would be required to process the claim. I PACKAGE TO THE VERY BEST OF MY ABILITIES BUT SOMETIMES THINGS HAPPEN THAT ARE OUT OF OUR CONTROL.
