The Bezel secures tightly and the glass is clean and free of scratches.

The front door closes with a locking mechanism that is fully functional and the back door closes securely. The Rich Mahogany Caseis is wonderful shape aside from a little bit of cracking present on the top back of the dome. The dial shows clearly roman numerals and this clock keeps VERY ACCURATE TIME AND IS A STRONG RUNNER. ALL 6 ROUND, SOLID MAHOGANY FEET ARE PRESENT ON THIS CLOCK TO GIVE IT STABILITY AND PROVIDE A SOLID AND FIRM FOUNDATION. OVER THE COURSE OF TIME, ONE OR MORE OF THESE FEET ARE LOST OR FALL OFF; BUT NOT WITH THIS BEAUTIFUL MANTEL CLOCK. The tones of the Westminster Chime are deep and rich and continue to resonate far after the hammers have struck the chiming rods. The tones have a warm sound which reverberate within the solid Mahogany tambour cabinet.

The hour chime has the highly sought after and rare "3 hammer strike" when playing the hour after the completion of the Westminster chime tune. The surface of the Mahogany is clean and is good shape for a clock that was built just 7 years before the start of WW II in Germany. The Junghans "J" inside a star Logo is clearly seen on the back of the brass plate of this Antique German Mahogany clock , along with date of "A32" which means it was made in the first half of 1932.

The back door does have 3 slight splits in the wood from drying of the wood, but are very difficult to see and do not detract from the beauty of this clock. The wood of the clock has been cleaned and moisturized to preserve and lengthen its beauty and age (There is some slight glazing over the wood, but no reticulation). The movement has been ultrasonically cleaned and oiled for your satisfaction and continued enjoyment over the coming years.

This sturdy clock is a fine example of German Craftsmanship and will last for many years to come--becoming a treasured family heirloom to be passed down from generation to generation. Also, on the front of the clock, on each side of the dial, there are maple triangle inlays present and are complete and intact. The clock has the original beveled glass and the silvered dial is moderately clean with one portion that has been "attempted" to be cleaned by a previous owner.

The dial has two subdials: The upper left subdial is the fast/slow time adjustment and the upper right subdial controls the chime/silence feature. This amazing antique clock was made just before the beginning of WWII and has survived virtually unscathed, to be a wonderful addition to any home. The Original Pendulum and Key are included with this beautiful clock. This Antique Junghans Clock plays a progressive Westminster Chime of the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full hour and then rings the number of the hour after the full Westminster Chime has been played. 5 rings for 5 O'Clock.
