Bentima was a well-established British clock company through the mid-twentieth century, and this clock carries that history in its dial and case. The movement has been fully stripped to component level and ultrasonically cleaned.
The mainspring barrels have been lubricated with Novostar, while synthetic clock oil has been applied correctly to the jewels and pivots throughout the movement, before careful reassembly by hand. The strike has been checked and adjusted, and the clock has then been bench tested over several days to confirm reliable running and striking before being offered for sale. The oak case has been cleaned and sympathetically refreshed to bring out the natural grain while retaining its original vintage character. The brass bezel and glass have been cleaned and polished without stripping away decades of honest patina. Movement fully stripped to component level and ultrasonically cleaned. The oak case presents with a warm, deep tone and light age-related marks consistent with genuine use, mainly to the base and rear edges. The curved sides show a lovely natural sheen where the grain catches the light. The dial is clean and legible with crisp numerals, and there is some minor age-related softening to the silvering at the extreme outer edge, largely hidden once the bezel is closed.
