French Vedette Sonnerie Large Antique Heavy Wall Clock Westminster Chimes
Ladies and gentlemen Now This Is A Clock! This is a BEAUTIFUL example of a VEDETTE SONNERIE FRENCH HIGH GRADE WESTMINSTER CHIME Wall Clock in 100% ALL ORIGINAL condition with a huge heavy duty movement. This one has a great design with original fancy wavy glass on the bottom and original glass on top.
Large FRENCH WESTMINSTER Wall clocks are somewhat rare and are of the highest quality. It was made in France probably circa 1890. The French clocks in our collection have not yet required any servicing and have kept perfect time for many, many years. This particular model is in outstanding condition with the original finish.It has a very large and very heavy, VERY HIGH QUALITY with a 8-day time and strike WESTMINSTER movement, which chimes on every quarter hour and also strikes the hours on the hour on 8 large beautiful chime rods with a very beautiful mellow sound. The clocks sound is very rich sounding. The clock strikes on the quarter-hour and counts the hours on the hour on chime rods with a beautiful sound. It plays 4 notes at the first ¼, 8 notes on the half hour, 12 notes on the ¾ hour and 16 notes plus strikes the hour on the hour!
When it strikes the hour it sounds it on a 4-note chord. There are 2 on off switches one for the chime and one for the strike. We have included some pictures of the movement and the chime rods also so you can see this clocks inner beauty! The chimes sound very beautiful as good or better than any grandfather clock. The movement is very high grade with thick plates!
The movement runs very well and keeps good time. Has a very pleasant quiet ticking sound as it runs. The movement is attached to its original seat board which slides out (like a drawer) for easy adjustment and viewing, no need to take off the dial or hands, held in place with its original seat board screws. The movement is in outstanding condition, no wear whatsoever. This clock is large and very heavy and measures 25 inches high, 15 inches wide, and 8 inches deep.
The case is original with a super design. The sides are as beautiful as the front. The signed original dial is in superior condition! Complete with the original large pendulum and this clock has a large antique key to wind it with - both work great!
There are no cracks in any of the glass. The back is in great condition.The clock has its original catchs to hold the front door closed. And the original wall stabalizers inside the case.
