Deep impasto lacquering which has been Parcel Gilt. Stepped base with long case body. Dominated by a domed head-piece with front opening glazed door with column supports. The whole longcase is covered in hand decorated Parcel Gilt in the Chinoiserie style. The front has a false door which is covered in the impasto lacquering. Run your hand over it and the depth of the impasto will make you appreciate the workmanship. In fact, run your hand over the whole body and you will appreciate the hand gilding, which features several Chinese scenes, landscape, Garden and aquatic and profuse banding.

The mechanism is of German manufacture and has a solid Brass front with a Chinoiserie engraved head-piece, four moulded cornices surrounding a silvered chapter ring with roman numerals.
