HOWARD MILLER 630-194 OAK WESTMINSTER CHIME TAMBOUR BARRISTER MANTEL CLOCK AEL01 KEY AJK. The movement is German, made by AJK Kieninger. The clock is in near pristine physical condition.
It has a round 6.5 to 7.5 diameter face with glass door cover. It has serpentine hands and a very nice size #8 winding key (we do not know if it's original to the clock).We have no precise history of its origins. We are moving and would otherwise keep the clock. SERVICE NOTES: Assume you know more about mechanical clocks than I do. I don't know much about clocks. As you probably know, it's much easier to do more damage than right a minor wrong with a clock.

General : Near physically flawless in every way. Movement: Physically flawless (beautiful), running perfectly. Operation : The clock starts easily by winding or flicking the flywheel. Chimes : They work properly, but the boing sound is a little off. I think all that's needed is to move the chime rods into proper alignment with the hammers. I've never cared enough and don't know how to properly adjust the chimes rods. Looks like an easy adjustment, but I'm afraid I'll make it worse. Hinged glass face cover: The cover is physically near pristine, but the latching mechanism could use a slight tightening. It latches fine but isn't very tight. WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR CLOCK: A clock that keeps pretty perfect time. It's accurate with the atomic clock to within a minute or two over a couple of weeks. The case has zero mentionable flaws. The glass cover could use a little tweaking but closes nicely.WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR CLOCK: Wind the clock gently. If it doesn't start automatically, pull the clear plastic cover off of the flywheel.
Gently (really gently) flick the fly wheel, and the clock will start. That's all I've ever done.
We've had this clock for several years and have not had it serviced because it runs fine and keeps good time. I would have the clock tuned if I were keeping it, because it's probably time. Plays Westminster melody on five-chime rods. Strikes the hours and chimes on the half hour. Manual chime night shut off.

Please provide any specific packing instructions. Please provide any specific instructions. It will be sent in unwound condition. The chimes may still have energy in the spring. Because they run independently of the mainspring (I think). Your clock will be suspended in bubble wrap (heavily) and double boxed to minimize shock. We will use lots of "Fragile" stickers and fully insure it.
