Ice, Mahogany, Gothic Bracket Clock with Matching Shelf (Bracket). Every year or so I create one or two unique clocks and offer them for sale around the holidays.
During November and December, I will offer a few of my authentic antique clocks from my collection as well as one or two more duplicates of special antique clocks. This particular clock is made mahogany hardwood with some walnut and burled redwood accents. There were no soft woods or veneers used in its construction. It is finished with a dark red mahogany stain and lacquer finish. There are a few minor flaws but you would need to look closely to find them. One of the most unusual aspects of this clock is the use of a redwood burl roof, column spires (steeples) and turned ball accents. The tight burled pattern in this amazing wood adds nicely to the overall.
The bracket (shelf) has a unique spring loaded drawer the opens when a secret button on the underside of the shelf is depressed. I made one of these two years ago out of apricot and the new owner mounted the clock near the front door so he could have quick - secure access to his handgun.
The antique Waterbury Westminster Chime movement is dated 1918. For being 100 years old is still works great, keeping excellent time. The fancy gold and silver face has been partially restored. The silver chapter ring was perfectly re-silvered and painted by Martha Smallwood's "The Dial House" in Dallas, GA.
You will be amazed with her work. The hands, pendulum, and key are original to the clock movement.
The subsidiary dials are original (but still nice). The 5 - rod chime block is original to the movement as well and when turned on, these chimes sound and works great! This clock is quite large and heavy. The overall height is about 29 inches, width is about 16.5 inches and depth is about 12 inches. It weighs about 34 lbs so you would need to make sure to mount it in a secure location.
At least one of the mounting screws should be in a wall stud. Please contact me if you need additional pictures or additional information. You can copy and paste this link to my face book page to see a short video of the clock and the operation of the secret drawer in the shelf.
