MODERN CHIMING MANTEL CLOCK westminster 1/4 chime on bells FHS GLASS & MAHOGANY. A superb, modern mantel clock made by FRANZ HERMLE & SOHNNE (FHS). This 8 day clock with full quarter westminster chiming mechanism on a nest of 4 bells. The clock also with night-time shut off selection for the chimes and is presented in a very attractive glass and hardwood case. Very well presented and great working order!
The 8 day clock has a platform escapement (as opposed to a pendulum) so there is no fiddly setting up and the clock is completely portable. Timekeeping is good and the chimes on the bells are a delight. There is a lever behind the dial at 3 O'Clock to select chime silent, night-time shut off or chime all the time!
The dial also features a subsidiary seconds dial. The beautiful hardwood case glazed with thick, bevel-edged glass to 4 sides so the gold plated mechanism can be seen gleaming within. Though not new its really well presented with only minor marks from normal use. The clock weighs 5kg before wrapping. 5" (35cm) in height, 7" (18cm) deep and 9.5 (24cm) wide.
