Here we have an outstanding find of a rare pillar and scroll clocks parlor clock that was produced in "Germany" about 65 years ago. One of the highest quality clocks giving the best production and the best distribution at the time. The clock is made of wood and finished in medium to dark walnut. There is a wooden pillar on either side of the case in front and two others on either side in the back. Each extends upward to the top platform.
The clock is mounted to a scrolled wood foundation as well and there is another fancy scrolled piece on the very top with two brass fancy finials; one in the center and one on the right. The one on the left is missing and so is a piece of trim though I'm sure this is a relatively easy find or fix. The front is actually a hinged wooden door with a clear glass crystal inset over the dial and another glass crystal is just below it featuring a gorgeous golden brocade with a clear center to allow for easy viewing of the pendulum as it swings back and forth. There are no cracks or chips in the glass that I can see.The door has a dark brass pull knob and opens easily to allow access to the winding arbors on the dial, convenient key storage, placing the pendulum, and to set the current time. There are hand painted flower sprays in each corner on the dial. The dial itself is soft almond and features large, fancy, easy to read, black Roman numerals to mark the hours and fancy metal hands to point out the time.
The name, "Daneker" is found in their familiar calligraphic script signature logo just above center and the phrase, "German Movement" is found in small block letters between the blue flowers and vines at the bottom of the dial. The back of the case is wood too and all hardware is present. The clock winds in front on three winding arbors and lasts for about eight days on a single wind. The chimes strike on the hour and on the half hour.
The clock comes complete as shown with a shiny brass metal pendulum and the metal winding key. This is a magnificent clock to be sure and equally so in size measuring about 21 1/2" or so high to the tip of the middle finial, about 6" deep, and about 13 at its widest point. The clock works quite well here, keeps good time, and the chimes are absolutely beautiful.
