This is a large Seth Thomas Westminster Sonora 5 Rod Mayfield Chime Shelf clock circa 1910 to 1920. It has a movement for time and hour strike and a separate movement for the Westminster Chime. It is complete and in pretty good condition, however the chime mechanism does not always take off and therefore the chime and strike get out of synch. You can prompt the chime to go by flipping the governor fan in the back.
The regular clock mechanism works fine until the chime mech. Does not complete its cycle and jams the hand shaft.
Both movements could use a complete overhaul. The glass has been replaced and the dial and bezel assembly have been cleaned and polished. The case has been cleaned and oiled.
Note, this clock is very heavy, 12 and 1/2 lbs. It measures 14 inches high, 10 and 1/2 inches wide and 7 and 3/4 inches deep.
