Vintage 1950's Smiths 8 Day Oak Mantel Clock Westminster Chime (Key Pendulum). This is a Vintage 1950's Smiths 8 Day Oak Mantel Clock Westminster Chime. This is in excellent condition and is in full working order.
The chime is in working order but if left on the chime goes off continuously. It has a silencing switch, so it is set to silent.
It has a stunning oak body in an arched shape. The oak has a pale honey coloured finish, with a soft grain. There is a very mild patina, which it has acquired through time. The face is a circular, silvered chapter ring with brass coloured numbers and hands. The clock is marked: SMITHS and MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN underneath the number six. There are three winding holes, meaning the clock will chime every quarter of an hour.To the left of the number nine, there is a silencing switch for the chime. The face has a brass framed, convex glass casing, which is intact and is in excellent condition. The clock stands on two wedged, wooden feet.
To the back of the clock is a door to the mechanism chamber. The door is intact and in excellent condition. The mechanism has been very well maintained. There are five chime bars, which produce a Westminster chime.
