Vintage Colonial Wall Clock Westminster Chimes Wood Brass and Wrought Iron Case Running. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself!
This is a very unique style of case clock. Made by Colonial Clock Company.
This clock is Model 109 and Movement number 428 in it, per the label on the back of the case. The clock case is made of walnut. The wood case still has a lot of its' original elegance. The top part of the case is a nice looking cast iron. Has a brass finial on the bottom.
Hangs from a gold colored lacquer chain. The chain shows some finish loss. The case is all there, and solidly put together.
Some paint splatter in places on the case that we did not attempt to remove. Appears the case was made in Germany as well as impressed to that effect at the bottom of the clock face. The clock face is a painted tin. Black background with a yellowish gold center piece. The numbers are embossed to look like porcelain, just raised parts of the tin face.
The white clock hands match and look appropriate to the clock. The concave glass is intact, not cracks or blistering. The bezel is securely attached to the case by the hinge. Nice brass movement in this case.
This is a German brass movement, UW 6/36 A in the clock. Has the five strike hammers and rods in place.
The serial number of the clock is on a metal plate on the inside of the back wood door of the clock, and is 695371. So, this clock probably dates to the early 1970s. The clock movement has just recently been serviced by Clock Doc.
Movement looks pretty clean with exception of some corrosion up by the escape wheel. The three clock springs feel sound when keyed. The clock will come with a wind key. This is a time, strike and chime clock. The clock stands 28" tall (36.25" with chain extended), by 13-3/8" across, by 4.75" wide.
The clock face is 7-5/8 across. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
The pictures provided both complement and supplement the listing description, so please look at them very closely as well. With old items, there is no way one can capture all the little imperfections in words, so the two media are meant to be the full description.
