Vintage Hamilton Grandfather Clock Cherry Case Westminster Chimes Runs Urgos Mvmt. Hamilton Clock Company Lancaster PA. Nice looking Vintage Hamilton Grandfather Clock to add to your home or office charm. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! The clock dates to the late 1970s to early 1980s based upon what I see with the clock and movement. The clock was made by the Hamilton Clock Company that once operated in Lancaster, PA. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don't have the overhead that the higher end houses and clock shops experience. Done in silver, gold and black coloring. Has a beautiful lunar dial that is done in blue.
The clock case is made of cherry wood and is in very good shape. Nice scalloped design along the skirt. Very little surface marking even around the bottom skirt where some ambitious person with a vacuum typically leaves their marks. The bottom inside of the cabinet that was some sort of fiber board is no longer there.
The finial is a lighter color stain than the rest of the case, and probably not original to the clock. The clock strikes the hours on the hour and then does either the Westminster Chimes routine every 15 minutes including on the hour. The strike has a nice strong hour strike and chime's sound. The stained cherry wood case on this clock looks very good. Beautiful hood on this clock.
The door is attached to hood by the hinges. Again, all the wood and trim is still with the clock.
The glass in the doors over the face, the pendulum area and the sides is all intact. The door hinges on both doors are sound and securely attached to the case. The lock latch for the pendulum door is there and operates. The movement appears to have been with this clock case since made. An Urgos movement, that was made in Germany.
The clock has a good beat to the movement with the pendulum and weights in place. The chimes unit has 4 strike hammers for the chimes and four strike hammers for the hours. This clock is weight driven with the chains and 3 weights. Nice looking brass look lacquer finish on the outer shells of the weights. Some minor wear and tear and dings to the finish. The chains the weights appear to be in good condition.The strike hammers and rods all look to be in good shape. Nice wood pendulum rod with gold colored bob on it.
Great looking movement and clock face on this clock. The clock has a silver colored metal clock face on it with gold numerals. There then is nice looking detailing surrounding the face. The large clock face is 8 across. A nicely colored and detailed lunar dial on this clock.
The lunar face shows moons and stars in silver on a blue background. The elegant clock hands are black, match, and are appropriate to the clock. We will also offer to deliver the clock to within 150 miles of Georgetown, DE one way. The clock stands 73.75" tall (75.75" w/ finial), by 16" across at bottom of case, by 9.25" wide.
