WALNUT MANTEL CLOCK with WHITTINGTON & WESTMINSTER DUAL CHIMES gorgeous case. This terrific mantel clock was originally retailed by Tree of Great Dover Street, LONDON circa 1930 though that firm has a history extending way back to 1844! This particular clock oozes quality with the case veneered from the choicest cuts of walnut with wonderful burl wood used on the front in addition to applied laurel leaf carving!
The mechanism is no less fine running for 8 days and chiming from an impressive set of nine gong rods for the most delightfully melodic and resonant sound. There are THREE levers accesed from the dial to control the chimes and finely regulate the clock (speed it up or slow it down). I have oiled the mechanism including greasing the mainsprings and it is running well keeping good time. The case has its original French polished finish and whilst there are some minor flaws these are from normal use and do not detract from what is a very good mantel clock indeed.Weighs 4.73kg before wrapping. Stands 9.5" (24cm) high, 17" (43cm) wide and 7 (18cm) deep.
The dial is 6 in diameter. Please have a good look at the pictures and message me should you require more information. Be sure to check out my other clocks.. Good looking and impressive dual chiming mantel clock ready to grace your home. Auctiva offers Free Image Hosting and Editing.
